Mac DeMarco Shares Woozy New Track 'On The Level'

Mac DeMarco has released another new song from his reflective forthcoming album, This Old Dog, arriving May 5. The latest track is titled "On the Level" and it showcases DeMarco's classic hazy synth style with a less expected somber element. The lyrics are an assertive meditation on a strained father-son relationship.

"Boy, this could be your year," DeMarco croons hypnotically from the start. "Make an old man proud of you / Forget about your tears."

Sandwiched between breezy repetitions of "On the Level," the song's final statement poses a sobering question: "Carrying a name / Followed to my final day / And who's there left to blame?"

"On the Level" follows the double lead single releases of "My Old Man" and title track "This Old Dog," which recently received a humorous music video.
