Go Your Own Way: Breakup Songs

Now that the Valentine's Day haze is passing, we can stop focusing on when love goes right and instead dedicate some time to when it goes terribly, horribly wrong. For the cynics among us or the recently heartbroken, bring out your wallowing tools and blast this playlist through your loud speakers.

"Your Best American Girl" by Mitski and CHVRCHES' "We Sink" both speak to relationships where nothing has necessarily gone wrong, but you have to sacrifice parts of your personality, or, for Mitski, her culture.

Dawes' "All Your Favorite Bands" hurts like opening up every falsely-healed wound. Similar to "Let Your Heart Hold Fast" by Fort Atlantic, it's about self-healing as much as it is healing your past love.

Encapsulating the freshness and raw emotion from a new breakup (or impending breakup) comes Kehlani's "Advice" and The Head and the Heart's "Signs of Light."

Aside from a Fleetwood Mac classic (made especially relevant after Sunday's Girls premiere), this batch of today's tracks from the broken hearts' club is sure to placate any romantic pessimist's palate.
