With the drop of a hat, Ady Suleiman could become the next music sensation. Hailing from Nottingham, the artist has toured with artists like Leon Bridges and Laura Mvula and worked with Donnie Trumpet and Chance the Rapper on the Social Experiment album, Surf, contributing vocals to "Rememory" and "Slip Slide."
Suleiman has released a handful of singles and videos, each song representing his masterful melding of reggae-infused hip hop R&B with a few pop shots. "Running Away," "Wait For You," and "Longing for Your Love" are some of his best releases to date, with the latter only available on YouTube and in rare live performances.
One of the best reasons to follow Suleiman - both his music career and his social media accounts - is the level of camaraderie and clear respect he holds for other artists today. Sharing frequent snapshots of the current tunes he's listening to, he provides an inundation of new artists to focus on, including Noname and Sampha.
Alongside his personalized posts come many updates on what is hopefully a new album, with his latest video claiming, "New music is coming." While he's only signed up for one festival appearance as of now, we're hoping 2017 will be Suleiman's year with tour dates and an album to boot. The soulful singer would be a welcome addition to the music world today, his accent pouring into his releases and his lyrics more akin to spoken word with abandon as opposed to singing.
