It's hard to pinpoint when rock music lost its way and EDM took over, but A Place to Bury Strangers are determined to drag it all back into the spotlight screaming. The Brooklyn band's fourth album, Transfixiation, is a solid start — just the right amount of wrong, whether it's expressed through the feedback-spewing effects pedals of "Straight," the takeoff guitar tones of "We've Come So Far," or the rabid mechanical animals of "Fill the Void." Or as bassist Dion Lunadon puts it, "It's not rocket science, but rock 'n' roll shouldn't be. You gotta keep it simple and rock it fucking hard."
